AFTERCARE

At the appointment

Once I have finished your tattoo, I will send you home with a plastic wrap around your tattoo that is to be removed once you are home. Please remove this plastic wrap if you see your tattoo is damp underneath the plastic!

Once it is time to shower you may follow the directions below.

Caring for your tattoo

After removing the plastic wrap, you must wash the tattoo with an antibacterial unscented soap. Foam up the soap in your hands first and then gently scrub the tattoo in circles. Wash off the soapy area and pat dry the tattoo with a clean paper towel.

Apply unscented moisturizer 2 times a day, morning and night, for 4 weeks. You may also use a lightweight tattoo balm, but be sure to clean the tattoo with soap before reapplying any moisturizer. Cleaning the tattoo before reapplying moisturizer will mitigate any risk of infection.

I recommend using unscented Dial antibacterial soap for your tattoo! If you are unable to find unscented, the gold bottle will work as well!

You can use whatever works best for you, but my moisturizer recommendations are Lubriderm or a trusted tattoo balm such as Mad Rabbit or Hustle Butter.

Additional info

Avoid direct sunlight and DO NOT use sunscreen while the tattoo is healing. Sunscreen must be applied once the tattoo is healed to ensure its longevity and maintain the quality of the tattoo.

DO NOT soak in any body of water. This means no pool, beach, or bathtub.

DO NOT pick or scratch at your tattoo! If it is itchy, try patting it gently. It is best to not touch and try to ignore!

Avoid exercise or heavy sweating. If you get sweaty, I recommend cleaning the tattoo with antibacterial soap immediately after and reapplying moisturizer.

Not following these instructions could result in poor healing, infection, or scarring.
